Happy New Year! What intentions do you have for yourself this new year? I started off 2016 by going to barre class seven days in a row! My body hurts. It was hard. But worth it. I'm proud of myself.
I think this new year is full of promise. I have a feeling. But it’s going to take lots of hard work. Personally, getting out of bed some days is a struggle for me. But, I've decided to really believe in myself this year. Professionally, that means doing all the hard things. The things that take extra effort in bringing me out of my comfort zone:
- Teaching - Them students ain’t gonna teach themselves! I gotta be prepared upon prepared with interesting lesson plans and work sessions.
- Entering gallery shows - There are lots of rules to follow in this world, but the hardest part about this will be believing that I am "good" or "talented" enough to participate.
- Getting myself out to NYC for Surtex and rocking it - I don't love traveling by plane, and the networking part of it? Geez! I’m going to have to wear my security pjs under my clothes! But hopefully the payoff will be big:)
- Starting a new business with a friend. - Eek! Risky! Scary! There are so many things that can go… RIGHT! Yes! Believe!
Personally, I've got to keep myself healthy in mind, body and spirit. But I don't find that difficult. I’ve been working on it for 45 years and I'm kind of in the groove.
And did you know this year is a leap year? Hop to it. What hard things will you do this year? I’m interested to know. Please leave a comment below.
